Welcome to the second weekend of August. These are the last few days of summer that I am looking forward to taking slowly and enjoying with my family before the mad back-to-school rush. I know some parts of the country, kids are starting to go back now, but here in the NYC tri-state we still have a couple of weeks left.
Farm-stand produce, including tomatoes and stone fruits, is still at its peak, so this week I’m bringing you a classic plum torte recipe. I’ve posted a few peach and cherry recipes, and thought I would include plums since they have been left out of my recipes this summer. This recipe is from Marian Burros and has been published yearly by the New York Times since 1983. It’s a popular classic for a reason.
The other recipe I’m sharing this week is a pride and true weeknight dinner. My Parmesan and panko crusted salmon is a household favorite here. It’s quick and easy to make and is savory and crispy and full of flavor. Make it alongside a salad or your favorite roasted vegetable for a satisfying meal.
I hope you enjoy both of these recipes this week, as well as the rest of your August. As always, check out my Instagram to see what else I’m up to. Also check out my Amazon kitchen favorites here. Happy summer!
