Psalm 139 says that we are "fearfully and wonderfully made" in the image of our Creator. The life of babies and infants demonstrates this - that we carry the "imago dei," or image of God in man.

But if that is true, then how come babies are born with sicknesses, genetic defects, or other issues? If we're wonderfully made, then how do we explain miscarriages? What does the Bible say about the cause of these things, and what hope does it give us for the future?

Join us as we consider what it is to be fearfully and wonderfully made, and what implications there are for our theology and our world.

"For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be." Psalm 139:13-16

What happens when a Christian dies? What happens if he dies before Christ returns? Is he unconscious, aware, or asleep? Does the Bible teach "conditional mortality" or "soul sleep?" Are either of these things legitimate?

"For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed upon with our house which is from heaven: If so be that being clothed we shall not be found naked. For we that are in this tabernacle do groan, being burdened: not for that we would be unclothed, but clothed upon, that mortality might be swallowed up of life. Now he that hath wrought us for the selfsame thing is God, who also hath given unto us the earnest of the Spirit. Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord: (For we walk by faith, not by sight:) We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord." 2 Corinthians 5:1-8 KJV
