He eventually met his wife, Crystal, but he refused to change his lifestyle of drugs ad alcohol. During this time, his parents continued to pray for him and his family.
While driving through Spain with his band, he heard the song 'Redeemed' by Big Daddy Weave come on the radio and he felt God speak to him. After that, Zach turned his whole life around and started living for the Lord.

When I Survey the Wondrous Cross was written by Isaac Watts in 1707. We are using the melody from a traditional Scottish folk song that's been around since the 1600's called "The Water is Wide". We wanted to keep this beautiful melody in tact for the most part, and also use the refrain by Chris Thomlin, (also by Jesse Reeves) to have something to come back to and hang on melodically. It can be a bit tricky coming out of the chorus because the two parts are very different, so we use the instrumental to change gears. Randy, Rod, Rachel, Bernie and Mavis are singing this one, trying to keep cool in the top of the stairwell, it was really hot that day.
